" Drawing is giving a performance; an artist is an actor who is not limited by the body, only by his ability and, perhaps, experience. " - Marc Davis.

Some more sketches from the journal I kept in 2009 during Tangled while developing the character of Rapunzel. These drawings are from my research of what a typical day in the life of Rapunzel might have been.
She would write in her journal, do laundry, prepare the fireplace for her daily hair brushing session with Mother Gothel. She had chores. She had ideas. She had good days and bad. Some days her paintings represented her hope, other days they represented her fears. Rapunzel was a regular girl bursting at the seems with creativity. Walls could not contain her spirit.
This journal later helped me when designing Rapunzel’s murals for the movie.

Artificial heart ready for human trials.
French company CARMAT have announced that their artificial heart is scheduled to be implanted into patients in four medical centers around the world. The device completely replaces the patient’s original heart.
The artificial heart consists of two cavities, mimicking the organ’s ventricles, which are separated by a moving membrane that’s hydraulically powered via a special actioning fluid. This membrane reproduces the action of the ventricular wall during contractions, creating blood flow in and out of the device. The system is works in conjunctions with sensors and a microcontroller that continuously adjust the activity of the prosthesis to match the needs of the patient.
